This gothic horror short story tells the tale of Ichabod Crane, a young gentleman who moves to the small town of Sleepy Hollow to take up the position of local schoolmaster. Here, Crane falls in love with one of his students and tries (and fails) to win her heart. Sleepy Hollow is a small, isolated town which is speculated to be a supernatural hot spot. In a frenzied panic, Ichabod presses his horse to go faster, but it veers out of control and changes direction towards the bridge that exits out of the town of Sleepy Hollow. The legend states that the ghost can travel no further than this bridge, and so Ichabod rides on in hope of escape.
